Name: Jean Devereaux
Title: Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist
Tenure: 3 Years
Hobbies: Hiking, camping, fishing, and other “outdoor stuff.”
Bio: Jean Devereaux likes numbers. She likes structure. She likes black and white and left and right and up and down. She likes certainty, that’s all.
Which is why she was such a perfect fit for CPA Consulting Group, LLP.
Jean is currently a Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist for the tax consulting business, but this isn’t the first time she’s worked for the company.
Years ago, she worked for CPA Consulting Group, LLP for quite some time but, eventually, she wanted to broaden her horizons.
“I left and worked for an individual company for a few years,” Jean stated. “But then, CPA Consulting Group had an opening for somebody who could kind of jump in without a lot of training. So that was a good opportunity for me to come back and know what was expected of me, and know the client base, and all of that kind of stuff.”
All of “that kind of stuff” consists of a wide array of responsibilities. As both a bookkeeper and a payroll specialist for the company, Devereaux performs a variety of tasks for both the company’s clients and its employees.
“I do full-charge bookkeeping,” she stated. “I do full-charge payroll, as well as after-the-fact payroll. Some of my clients are two-people payrolls and some of them are…I think my biggest one is like 58 people.”
Jean makes good use of her time, however. And it helps that most of her correspondence is done virtually.
And Jean likes it when things are clean, when they’re orderly, when they’re precise. She’s been that way her whole life, and it’s why she’s such a perfect match for CPA Consulting Group, LLP.
“I am very structured,” she said. “And so, numbers work well for me because two and two always equals four. No matter how you look at it, no matter what you do, it’s always the same. And that fits with my personality. It fits with my lifestyle of being very structured and very straight line. ”
CPA Consulting accentuates the best parts of each of its employees, so that they are best served in providing the best service for their clients.
“They care,” Jean stated. “They care about their employees, they care about their clients, they care about each other. It’s not a firm where you’re just a number. I’ve worked for a couple of other firms here in Casper and that’s the biggest difference; they really care about their people. You’re not just a number on a piece of paper – you actually have an identity and a level of respect.”
Respect is reciprocated as well. Jean has tremendous respect for her coworkers, and for her boss.
“You’ll never meet a better group of people,” she beamed. “They take care of you; they help you excel in your career and they’re so supportive on a personal level as well. Dick Bell is a fantastic mentor. So much of how I’ve advanced in my career, I attribute to him. He just took me by the hand and said, ‘Okay, this is what we’re going to do. Let’s work on this. Let’s figure it out.’”
Jean has figured it out. She’s been back with CPA Consulting Group, LLP for three years and, in those three years, she has learned a lot and she has taught others as well. She has met and worked with incredible clients and has provided them with top-notch service since 2019. And she’s done it all… ‘by the numbers.’
